5 Summer Skincare Tips

Summer is just around the corner, which means lots of sunlight. While you may be excited about warm mornings, beach vacations, and other summer-loving fun, your skin probably doesn’t feel the same. The summer sun and heat can wreak havoc on your skin, causing burning, dark spots, wrinkles, and other types of skin damage.

To help keep you and your skin safe and healthy this summer, Jon Somes would like to share with you some summer skincare tips. If you are looking for hydrating face creams, anti-aging facial creams, and a variety of other organic skincare products, check out Jon Somes Facial Products.

The summer sun can dry out your skin, leaving behind dead skin and debris. Exfoliating your skin can remove all of this dead and dulling skin debris. This is an essential prerequisite for any facial product to work effectively. Your face must be clean for creams and treatments to work to their maximum effect. The appearance of your pores also tends to become more prominent in the hot, humid summer months. Regularly exfoliating will reduce this appearance and make your face a better canvas on which to apply makeup. Having trouble finding a reliable, natural exfoliating cleanser? Be sure to avoid comedogenic products. These types of facial products can block your skin’s pores, causing irritation and acne breakouts — especially when combined with all the continual sweating, which for many of us tends to be a daily summer occurrence.

Summer makes you sweat. This causes your cells to lose water quickly, potentially leading to dehydration, headaches, dizziness, and other unpleasant conditions. To keep the moisture levels in your body safe and healthy, drink lots of water. Ideally, you should be drinking 8 to 10 glasses a day, and if you drink a lot of caffeine, keep in mind that your necessary daily intake will be even higher.

Use Sunscreen

Do you spend the early days of summer soaking up the sun without any sunscreen on to, you know, build up your base? If so, you shouldn’t. If you are spending long periods of time outside or you are in a region that gets a lot of sun, be sure to use a heavy-duty sunscreen. However, it is not enough to simply apply sunscreen. You must also reapply frequently. This is especially true if you are taking part in water activities, and it will also help to get a strong, water-resistant sunscreen. Research shows that most people do not use as much sunscreen as they should. Some dermatologists even recommend that if you are taking, say, a beach vacation, you should wear sunscreen ahead of time to help build up a layer of protection in your stratum corneum, making it less likely to burn once your vacation arrives.

Treat With Aloe

Life’s too short to spend your summers hiding from the sun, even if it can potentially damage your skin. After a day of sunbathing, cool off and treat your skin with a soothing balm of aloe vera. Aloe vera is a moisturizing anti-inflammatory plant material that can both calm and nourish skin to a surprising degree. Whether you pluck and scoop out fresh aloe vera yourself or pick up a skincare product loaded with aloe vera, incorporate it into your summer skincare routine.

Moisturizing is an absolutely crucial part of any summer skincare regimen. Although your skin might not seem to be begging for moisturizer the way it does in the winter, it is just as an important part of your summer skincare routine as it is in the winter. The extreme heat and sun of the summer can dehydrate your skin, leaving it dry, damaged, and dull. Applying a hydrating moisturizer daily can compensate for summer’s moisture loss, as well as create a barrier against pollutants, bacteria, and sunburns.
